Filey School pupil Cavan Walker competed in the Screentek International Youth Tour of the North West.
A four-stage race in Lancashire, it featured a field of the 70 best youth riders in the UK and Europe.
The first stage was a short Hill Climb Prologue around Memorial Gardens in Lancaster. and Cavan finished in a time of 48 seconds, placing him 34th.
The remaining stages were all closed road circuit races, at Preston University and Salt Ayre Race Track in Lancaster.
With a large field and high speeds, all three stages finished in mass bunch sprints, with only time bonuses for the winner’s separating the field.
Cavan managed to move up the standings and finish 28th overall.
Cavan followed up this strong showing by returning to winning ways in round two of the White Rose Youth League at York, taking the win in a four- man sprint.
YH Training SRC competed in round three of the North Yorkshire Evening Road League at Sheriff Hutton this week.
An undulating course and a field of over 60 riders made for a tough race.
Gary Whitton placed best of the YHTSRC team, making it into the break but just missing out on a top 10 finish.
The team also competed in the Velo Club Beverley/Wilsons Wheels Summer Road Race at South Dalton.
Unfortunately, a puncture early into the race forced Dave Leaming to retire.
Whitton finished in the bunch, while best placed rider for YHTSRC was Bob Hewitt, who finished fifth and gaining promotion to second Category racing.
A fantastic achievement so early in Bob’s first season of Road Racing.
