Bridlington Road Runners Ultra ace Danny Brunton digs deep to earn third spot at Hardwolds challenge


The route follows the Wolds Way from Hessle to Filey, accompanied by Storm Bert, Danny wasn’t going to let it get in the way, writes Thomas Fynn.
In appalling conditions, but supported by Bridlington Road Runners clubmates along the route to support with feed stations and accompanying him for parts of the race, Danny proudly took third spot, to finish the challenge in 14:56:19.

Hide AdWhile most local sport was wiped out, over in warmer climates, a few Brid Road Runners were in action at the Benidorm 10k.


Sisters Danielle Whitehouse and Dom Webster ran the course together to complete in 59:32 while Heidi Baker, who now has her own running group on a Wednesday, completed in 1:08:55 and club veteran Robert Eyre finished in 1:09:49.
Parkruns were few and far between due to the weather, with only Paul Good completing the Peter Pan event in 21:18.
Scott Hargreaves was the sole Brid Road Runner, as the weather slightly improved, on Sunday to take on the Doncaster 10K and finished 22nd overall in 33:35.

Hide AdA mixture of juniors and seniors attended the Humber Road Race Championships on Sunday.


In the Mixed 1km Junior Final junior Alfie Verner shone to complete in 3:44, while improving Lily Choat wasn’t far behind to complete in 4:15, Riley Marsh completed the field in 4:28.
In a Mixed 2km final Tyler Choat took second place in 7:10, while clubmate Oceane Price was 10th overall in 4:15.
In a 3km mixed final Brid juniors were in good form for the U15 and U17 final as Evie Lakes, Maelys Price and Rebecca Miller put in strong times.

Hide AdThe senior 5km mixed final saw a host of Road Runners taking part but stealing the show was former junior Micah Gibson, who set out to complete the course in under 20 minutes and did so with a second to spare.


James Briggs put in a blistering performance, to grab third place overall in 16:58. Louise Taylor, who has improved week on week at Sewerby with her training routine paying dividends, was the first female to finish for BRR in 21:11.
Charlotte Jallow and Michael Byass were in action at the Movember Half Marathon in York, completing in respectable times of 2:42:00 with only a second to separate.
