FATHER and son duo Keith and Alex Paddock’s maiden outing in the same team resulted in Scarborough Pirates’ A side collecting their first ever win against Haworth on Saturday.
On his debut in senior rugby league, Alex helped his side to an 18-6 win and their maiden success since forming over a year ago with a man of the match performance.
Pirates chief Dave Marsden was full of praise for the duo, and the young A side as a whole, after their winning start to the new campaign.
He said: “It’s fantastic for Keith and Alex to have had such an impact on the game and for the side to win their first match.
“They’re a young side and struggled at times last season, but they’ve got that extra bit of experience in there now.
“It’s a big step up from junior rugby league to senior leagues, so Alex has done really well to have such an imact.”
