Scarborough Pirates’ A side’s recent up-turn in fortunes continued with a resounding 52-8 win at home to Mirfield Stags A.
The home side opened the scoring with Dave Young grabbing his first for the season, while Zac Metcalfe and Alex Paddock grabbed two tries apiece.
The Pirates’ scoresheet was rounded-off by efforts from Olly Heaps, Josh McNeil, Joe Messruther and Marc Campling.
Alex Paddock was also in form with the boot as he added six conversions, with McNeil landing two as well.
The win moves the home side up to third in the division four table and sets them up for their crunch clash with Garforth Tigers at Eastway next week.
Player-coach Keith Paddock said: “It was a really good game, they had a full side with a big strong pack.
“I was really happy with this week’s performance.
“We put a few points on the board like last week, but the difference this week was structure.
“We were completing sets, working our set-plays plays well and the score doesn’t do Mirfield justice as they were a big physical side.
“We just played really well and the atmosphere in the changing rooms was superb too.
“Garforth beat us by six points earlier in the season, so we are looking for a bit of revenge next week.”
The club’s first team didn’t have a scheduled fixture this weekend, but are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Kippax Knights.
