Two of Scarborough Pirates’ longest serving players are ready to tackle Ukraine’s finest as they embark on their England Lionhearts tour.
Club captain Dave Douthwaite and Harry Sleep are both en route to Ukraine now after being selected for the Lionhearts tour, following in the footsteps of ex-Pirates player-coach Chris Keld.
Sleep said: “We are both really excited to get on the road to represent the country in England colours.
“It should be a great level of rugby league and hopefully we both get to put our skills on display and be proud to represent the Pirates, our region an the RFL.
“Myself and Dave are both looking forward to getting stuck in with the other lads selected and are hoping to come back with a bit of silverware in the bag too.”
Pirates skipper Douthwaite added: “Both me and Harry would like to thank everyone who has sponsored us and supported us so far.
“Without them we wouldn’t be going on the tour.”
