DAVE Campbell spoke to Scarborough man-of-the-match Rob James after the Seasiders 36-28 victory at Silver Royd over Knottingley on Saturday.

James said: “Although we made a poor start I think it was in the end a good all round performance against a decent side.

“We know our ball retention was not what it should have been at periods during the game but the likes of Craig Farrell, Graeme Jeffrey, Jake (Rollinson) and Nino (Cutino) consistently got over the gain line.

“And of course you’re only as good as your whole squad and I think Jason Lowde, Chris Mabbutt and Jaxon Tite really did well on the day.

“It was of course great to get five tries and a bonus point in this game and although we conceded three tries, our defence during the third quarter of the game when we found it difficult to get possession of the ball, was magnificent.”

“Even with all the enforced changes through injury etc, we are gelling well and I’m really looking forward to the remaining games in my first season in English rugby.”
