There will also be a dance on November 19, which is a week on Saturday, and a day later the club will host a full day of rugby from across the age-groups.

Dr David Coates, who is the chair of the celebrations steering committee, said: “We are putting together a number of different events to honour the 90th anniversary.

“We have been looking through the minutes from the first-ever meeting of the club on November 18, 1926.

“They played their first game against Whitby on December 29 later that year, which is something that we’ll be recreating in May with a meeting of two rep teams from the clubs.

“As part of the celebrations we will be having a dance on the Saturday after the anniversary.

“Then on the Sunday we will have a full day of rugby at the club.

“That will start from the youngest minis playing in the morning and throughout the day we will move through the age-groups.

“At the end of the day there will be a walking rugby game for the older generation of the club, before we retreat inside for a few drinks and something to eat.”
