Scarborough RUFC have received a huge boost heading into 2014 with the return of former rugby league professional Craig Farrell.
Farrell turned out in their friendly win at Driffield on Saturday and will be available for selection for Heath’s visit to Silver Royd this weekend.
Farrell said: “I’m looking forward to making yet another comeback. I keep trying to retire but it’s very hard to let the game go.
“Lee Douglas has been a big influence in me returning, I’ve chatted with him several times at school fixtures as we’re both teachers, and we have similar thoughts on the way the game should be played.
“He talks a lot of sense and is a very good coach so I was keen to get on board, particularly as I feel I still have something to offer.”
Farrell knows he isn’t the same player as in his earlier years, but is ready to adapt his game.
He added: “My body isn’t as quick or strong as it was, but I understand the game and my strengths lie elsewhere these days - organising and directing the team - so I’m hoping to take some of the pressure off Tom Harrison there.
“I enjoyed the run out at Driffield and I’m looking forward to getting some more game time under my belt, should I be selected.”
