The young winger said: “I was buzzing to get the call up from Simon (Smith) and to top it off with a try makes it even more special for me.

“I played well for the Danesmen a week before and then trained with the lads throughout the week.

“It’s never nice when a player is injured but I knew that I needed to take my chance and prove myself.”

The winger is hopeful that his performance and desire will lead to more games in the future.

“I’m hoping for more opportunities now,” added Jackson.

“I’m very keen to relish the challenge of playing first team rugby and I can’t wait to develop my game.”

With tough games coming up against West Hartlepool and York, Jackson wants to keep hold of his position in the team.

He added: “I need to keep performing well if I want to stay in the team.

“As a winger, I’m always looking to score tries and present others with the opportunity to score.”
