There have been many successful cases of rugby league players switching codes and taking up union.
Sam Burgess has signed for Bath and I’m sure he’ll be a success - rugby is rugby in my book, it’s the same shaped ball and I’d be daft not to want good, hard players at Scarborough RUFC.
Some of our lads play for the Scarborough Pirates and I’m not sure why we don’t have more of them coming over and giving union a go.
If they want to come along then we train Tuesdays and Thursdays.
We obviously had a break from action last weekend, and with the knocks and injuries we have it was more than welcome.
It’s nice to have a weekend off sometimes and there was also a bit of pressure building on the team to win, which boiled over at Middlesbrough.
It’s hard to explain as we were playing well and then just self destructed.
It’s frustrating for me as a coach.
If we had a poor team and didn’t have the players we have at our disposal then I would be quite happy with our league position, but it’s clear that we should be up challenging near the top of the table.
Other than the Malton game we have taken losing bonus points and should have won a lot of those games.
We’re carrying a lot of knocks at the moment, but we should still have enough to beat North Ribblesdale.
They have frailties all over the park from what I’ve seen and it is up to us to play our game and make sure we exploit their weaknesses.
Sometimes we need that little bit more toughness from some players.
When you’re carrying a knock, you need a bit more mental toughness to play through it, that seems to be going from the game now though.
