The guys more than made up for our disappointing effort against Pontefract with the win at Wath on Saturday.

All the players knew that we had to bounce back from such a poor performance, and they did just that.

It was one of our best performances of the season and it would be fantastic if we could replicate that in our final two games of the season, at home to York this weekend and Keighley next Saturday.

It was extremely pleasing to see the guys in such good form on Saturday. The patterns of play and gameplan we executed were superb and Wath didn’t offer any answers to our dominance.

We’ve known all season that the players are capable of this level of performance, the problem has certainly been maintaining it.

It’s so important that we finish strongly now and head into the Yorkshire Shield final on May 4 in the best possible manner, and that starts with York on Saturday.

There were some superb individual efforts at Wath.

I was particularly pleased with Matty Oxtoby’s efforts at blindside.

It was his first game there and he was superb.

Phil Stewart is really starting to command the game at No10. He’s getting players organised around him and getting people running off him, so that’s pleasing too.

Tom Harrison had a stormer too, as did young Joe Marshall, who showed his superb potential both with ball in hand and in his support of the team when we don’t have possession.

We’re starting to welcome some key players back into the squad after injuries now, just at the right time.

I believe Craig Farrell and Tom Ratcliffe could make an appearance in the Vikings this weekend.

I hope to see plenty of faces down at Silver Royd the next couple of weekends.
