Everyone at the club is now looking forward to this weekend’s National Cup trip to Newcastle.
Not only will it give us a chance to relax away from league action, but it also gives us the opportunity to push on in a cup competition that could result in a visit to Twickenham.
The focus has changed a bit this week because obviously the guys are going into this game wanting to do well.
We have had good numbers at training and they are all very switched on.
I have played at Twickenham on a couple of occasions, once for the Army in 1996 and then a couple of years later.
Playing at the home of English rugby is something very special, it is nice that a cup like this can allow players the opportunity to turn out at our national stadium.
This will be a straight shoot-out between ourselves and Medicals, the winners progressing into the latter stages of the competition.
We have obviously had a look at Medicals on YouTube, but it will be more about our game. If we play well then we’ll do well.
We have a talented bunch of lads, so it will come down to the standard of their play on the day.
This season they have maintained good standards and we showed that against Consett in the previous pool game when we beat them 55-0.
To nil someone in any game is great, but it is always nice to do it against a team from another league.
The lads have made giant strides this season, but at times we have still blown hot and cold.
One week we have been up there competing with the best and the next we have been struggling against the lower teams.
It was good that we picked up a win against Hullensians last weekend because it will be good for our confidence.
The lads should be pretty confident going into the game anyway though.
We are looking strong, despite the fact that Matty Oxtoby will be missing with a dislocated collarbone.
It is all just up to the lads now though.
