Malton & Norton RUFC travel to derby rivals Scarborough this weekend looking to maintain their push for promotion from Yorkshire One.

Coach Chris Creber has been buoyed by the return of several key players to the squad.

“We were without a few guys for the 10-3 win in very tough conditions at Heath in the Yorkshire Shield on Saturday,” he said.

“It was great to see the lads roll up their sleeves and get the win, but this weekend, we have Ian Cooke and Ben Woodhouse back, as well as Ben Boothman and Rob Featherstone in the forwards.”

Creber continued: “We will be without Dylan Readman for at least 12 weeks though as he suffered a serious arm injury at work last week, and that is a huge blow.

“Young Callum Stark, who featured on the wing at Heath, may well step into the team again on Saturday.”

Assessing his side’s derby rivals, Creber said: “Scarborough are doing well and they have a great set-up there now.

“They have a good number eight in the side now and I am expecting a good tough game on Saturday afternoon.”
