PHIL WATSON: Ilkley display shows our potential

Obviously I am going to be sidelined until at least after Christmas with my broken arm, which is frustrating.

But I travelled with the team to Ilkley and watched them battle to a decent but frustrating 17-17 draw.

The way the guys started the game, we really should have gone on and won the game.

The guys flew out of the traps and blew Ilkley away in the first 20. I’m not sure they knew what had hit them.

But we let them back in and they’re a good side and they pretty much had the better of it after that.

It took the boot of Tom Ratcliffe to rescue us a point near the end, and it was a good point to be fair to the lads.

It’s not an easy place to go as I mentioned earlier and if you’d have offered us a draw beforehand, I’m sure we’d have taken it.

I can’t wait for the day we produce our best for the full 80 minutes - I feel sorry for the team who we’re up against on that afternoon.

This Saturday we’re facing a bit of a battle at home to Dinnington.

We’re really down to the bare bones. I’m obviously unavailable and I hear Chris Purdy is struggling too.

Zbynek Schutz and Jan Tieber, who are improving all the time and impressed at Ilkley, are on international duty and will be missed.

I have to add that I was totally disgusted with the treatment Nino Cutino received on Saturday.

He might miss Saturday’s game after he seemed to be attacked by their hooker. The referee totally missed it, which was disgusting.
