SCARBOROUGH RUFC’s first-team have surged up to sixth place in the Yorkshire One table after a superb 10-8 win at Ilkley on Saturday afternoon.

Commenting on another superb win on the road, Scarborough prop Matt Jones said: “ I think that was just about the most tiring game I’ve ever played in and we were all exhausted from what was a very intense afternoon.

“My teammates’ defensive effort was absolutely tremendous and guaranteed us another four points.”

Skipper Nick Ingham was also delighted by his team’s efforts on the road: “This was a totally different game from the previous weekend’s 50-11 demolition of Castleford at Silver Royd.

“To use a military metaphor, it was a war of attrition out there and again we stepped up to the plate.

“I’m really looking forward to our visit to Dukes Park this weekend to take on local rivals Bridlington in what should be a real cracker of a game.”
