Scarborough edged out by Selby in thrilling finale

A much-reshuffled Scarborough side ended their league campaign with a typical curate's egg of a performance at relegation-threatened Selby.

Playing into the teeth of a biting wind the visitors struggled in the early stages of an error-strewn first half.

And although Selby led 11-6 on the half hour, a try from Scarborough skipper Tom Ratcliffe saw the scores tied 11-11 at the break.

An exciting second half saw the sides share six tries with the Seasiders leading 31-30 going into injury time.

Referee Jim Saunders found six minutes of added time from somewhere before awarding Selby a penalty at a three-time reset scrum and fly-half Scott Hunt made no mistake with the penalty.
