The 29-year-old has taken over as Youth Development Officer after Tomasz Chadwick’s departure to take up a position at Hull City Football Club, and he brings an impressive CV with him.

Hogg, brother of current Scotland international Stuart, has played for Scotland in the IRB Sevens World Series as well as representing his country at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-20 levels.

Viewing Scarborough as a sleeping giant, the utility back is looking to play his part in waking the club from its slumber.

He said: “I have played professional rugby all my career, but I’ve never been at a club facility like this.

“If you look at these facilities, this club has to be classed as a sleeping giant, especially when you take into account the infastructure that is in place as well.

“The youth set-up is a big thing for this club and there is everything that lads need if they either want to be a social player in the future, or one that wants to progress.”

Hogg spent last season as a professional at the East Grinstead-based G-Force, but prior to that he played in the Italian top flight with Biella.

His ambition remains to play at the best level of rugby he can, and he wants to do that with Scarborough.

“I still feel that I can make a difference on the pitch and I aspire to play at the highest standard that I can.

“In reality, this is below the level that I have been playing at, but the club’s main goal is promotion, which is great because I’ve not come here to remain in this division. I want to help push the club higher.”

Hogg also has big plans for the youth set-up.

He added: “Tom has done a good job and things are in place, but I want to put my own stamp on it.

“It is a case of passing on what I have picked up from working with some great coaches in the pro game and taking things forward.

“I’ve been told that 350 kids rock up on a Sunday morning. I want to make sure that every single one of them enjoys their rugby.

“If they want to go forward and push themselves, then I will give them the chance to do that.

“I have been involved in coaching since I left school and have pushed myself on.

Jennifer Jaconelli, corporate communications manager at McCain, partners of Scarborough RUFC’s Active Youth programme, added: “We’re excited to welcome Graham to the club.

“He brings a wealth of experience and passion, and we’re looking forward to working with him.”
