SCARBOROUGH’S Jaxon Tite has warned his team-mates that Sunday’s Yorkshire Shield clash at Selby will be their biggest summer test so far.
Dave Beck’s men have cruised to wins in both their pre-season outings to date, with Acklam being the last to taste defeat against the Silver Royd men.
And Tite wants that run to continue against a side who he warns will be strong, despite them suffering relegation from Yorkshire One last season.
He said: “This is a big cup game for the club.
“It will be the biggest test we have faced so far in pre-season and will give us a good idea of where we are ahead of the season.
“The Yorkshire leagues are tougher than the others around so they won’t be an easy team to beat.”
Tite singled out ever-improving centre Paul White and Graeme Jeffrey as the key men for Scarborough this weekend.
He added: “We’ve got a lot of good players at the club.
“Paul White is playing well at centre at the moment and Graeme Jeffrey is always a key man for us.
“We’ve got a lot of new signings on their way so we’re all fighting for places.”
