Scarborough RUFC halt poor run with Huddersfield YMCA victory

Scarborough RUFC ended a run of six straight defeats by beating struggling Huddersfield YMCA.

Scarborough opened the scoring the 13th minute as scrum-half Jordan Wakeham managed to score an unconverted try.

Wakeham was involved again in the 22nd minute as winger Jonty Holloway made his way through the tackles and off-loaded to Wakeham who scored under the posts.

The home side extended their lead four minutes later as Holloway crashed over after Ratcliffe had created the chance for his side to leave the game at 17-0.

Ratcliffe found his way onto the scoresheet in the 34th minute as quick work from Wakeham allowed him to score a converted try.

The visitors registered their first points of the afternoon on the stroke of half-time as Samuel Fletcher intercepted a pass and ran the length of the pitch to score an unconverted try for 24-5.

Winger Jack Anderson scored a well worked converted try in the 49th minute but his side failed to stop a dangerous attack from the visitors in the 60th minute to leave the game at 31-10.

With only five minutes left, the home side scored three tries courtesy of Wakeham, Aaron Wilson and Ratcliffe as their side ended a poor run of form to comfortably win 50-10.
