Friends and family of former Scarborough RUFC stalwart Andrew ‘Mo’ Stevenson will once again gather on Easter Monday (March 28) to remember him.
The fourth annual memorial day will also remember former club coach Keith Marshall, who sadly passed away last year.
Keith’s son Joe will be organising a team to play against the Klosters XV in the main event of the afternoon, while there will be a tag rugby tournament including teams from the club’s ladies side the Valkyries, Staxton Cricket Club, for whom Mo played, and the Scarborough Colts.
There will also be a two-course hot lunch available and anyone wanting to book should contact Mo’s dad John Stevenson on 07740067347.
After the presentations, there will be live music from Jack Anderson and Laura Welburn to finish off the annual proceedings.
Both the Stevenson and Marshall families have agreed to support St Catherine’s Hospice.
Last year, nearly £2,000 was raised for the hospice, and it is hoped even more can be raised this time around.
John said: “It’s fitting that we are raising a lot of money for such a fantastic local charity like St Catherine’s.
“It’s a legacy for Andrew, who spent his last few days there and they looked after him very well.
“A lot of these memorial events can fade out, but this one seems to still be going strong and that is testament to how Andrew touched a lot of people’s lives.
“We also lost another club stalwart in Keith Marshall, and it’s only right that he be remembered on the day too.”
