Scarborough snap up Old Crocs success

A flying start and a strong finish saw Scarborough RUFC victorious in their Yorkshire One clash at Old Crossleyans.

The men from Silver Royd got off to a fabulous start, running-in three tries without reply to lead 17-0 with only 13 minutes on the clock.

Giant prop Wesley Langkilde was first to cross the whitewash, followed by Ant Coffey, before Langkilde grabbed his second of the afternoon.

However the Halifax-based hosts took control when the Seasiders eased back on the accelerator, the struggling Crocs hitting back with three spectacular touchdowns of their own to lead 19-17 at the break.

The visitors looked a more composed outfit in the second period with their pack in the ascendancy in the forward exchanges, and it was no surprise when number eight Issac Faamau barged over 10 minutes into the half.

Skipper Tom Ratcliffe converted Faamau’s effort and added a penalty 10 minutes later for a 27-19 Scarborough lead.

Fit-again scrum-half Jordan Wakeham clinched the game with a late individual try to secure a 32-19 scoreline and a bonus-point win for Lee Douglas’ charges.
