Scarborough RUFC skipper Matty Jones is hoping for a bumper crowd when his side take on Beverley under the lights at Silver Royd in their Yorkshire Shield semi-final on Wednesday night.

The hosts go into the last-four clash with the Beavers on the back of clinching second spot in Yorkshire One and a promotion play-off on Saturday May 5.

Jones said: "The dressing room is buzzing at the moment and everyone is really getting stuck into training and games.

"The last time I played under lights at Silver Royd was against Bridlington and there was about 1,000 people there for it.

"It's a special venue and will be even better under the lights with hopefully a big crowd behind us."

Scarborough go into the game looking to complete a league and cup treble over visitors Beverley, but Jones isn't taking them lightly.

He added: "We beat them twice in the league, but both games were close with very few points in it, so it'll be tough and they'll be coming for revenge and a place in the Shield final too."

The other corresponding semi-final is played on Saturday between Old Rishworthians or Hullensians and Middlesbrough, with the final pencilled in for Sunday May 13 at Hull Ionians RUFC.

Scarborough team to face Beverley: Nino Cutino, Sam Dawson, Matty Jones, Phil Watson, Matty Oxtoby, Aaron Wilson, Drew Govier, Ben Martin, Jordan Wakeham, Tom Ratcliffe, Harry Dommett, Billy Parker, Jimmy Perrett, Matty Young, Tom Harrison, Paul Taylor, Jonty Holloway, Chris Purdy, Ian Williams.
