SCARBOROUGH’S Robert Squire has answered the club’s call and will return from Newcastle for the huge derby clash with Malton tomorrow, 2.15pm.
High-flying Malton & Norton will represent Scarborough’s toughest challenge at Silver Royd this season when the league leaders come to town for the Yorkshire One tie.
And Squire, who studies at Northumbria University, will make the journey back to boost the home side’s ranks for the huge derby encounter.
Squire said: “I’m really looking forward to coming back for the Malton match.
“The Malton game is always a great occasion and especially the home match as we tend to get a good crowd turn out and get behind us.
“Malton are having a superb season and are in good form at the moment too so it will be a tough challenge for us to overcome that and get a positive result.
“But our guys have also been hard to beat at home recently so it’s set up nicely to be an entertaining match.
“It is always good to get a decent sized backing as it boosts the whole team, so if we could get a good turn-out it would help.”
Squire has been turning out for Northumbria’s 2nd XV, which he insists has improved his game and can help him make an impact in this weekend’s clash.
He added: “Playing for the university side is very different to playing Yorkshire One rugby.
“It is a lot faster and I think it has improved me as a player, so hopefully that will come in handy this weekend.
“Hopefully by the time I have graduated I can come back and play more regularly and be an improved player.”
Entry to tomorrow afternoon’s big derby game will be charged at £4 per person, which includes a free programme.
Under-16 supporters will be allowed into the game for free.
