Scarborough’s aggressive fly-half Phil Stewart insists high-flying Huddersfield YMCA are beatable, if they club together and play as a unit.
Scarborough’s opponents this Saturday have improved dramatically this campaign and are gunning for promotion, while Jason Lowde’s men are enduring something of a transitional season.
Stewart fully believes they can rip up the formbook come Saturday at Silver Royd though.
Stewart said: “It’s difficult against Huddersfield.
“They’ve got a solid pack and the back line is really effective, at their place they gave us a bit of a hammering so we need to tighten up our defence in the backs and compete with them up front.
“They aren’t top of the league for no reason, but we believe we can beat anyone at home, so we have to be confident going into every game.”
Stewart is under no illusions of the task at hand.
He added: “I wouldn’t say there are any particular key men this week, Huddersfield play 15-man rugby so we know we’re going to have to defend as a team and work hard the whole game.
“Likewise we know we can hurt them when we get the ball as we showed in glimpses at their place.
“As usual it’s all about getting quick ball from our pack and then releasing some of our wide men and pulling them around the pitch.
“We can only keep trying to play the way we believe suits us best and the way we enjoy playing.”
