THE pitches and facilities at Silver Royd have been given a huge endorsement by Twickenham’s Head Groundsman, Keith Kent.
On a tour of facilities in the area, Kent visited SRUFC’s Scalby Road base and was ‘blown away’ by what was on offer at the club’s £4.5million home.
Kent’s report, handed to RFU Chief Executive Rob Andrew, read: “We met with the good people of Scarborough RUFC.
“The club have not long moved to their present site and I have to say that their facilities are absolutely first class.
“I had a tour of the impressive building and I returned to Twickenham singing the praises of Scarborough to all.
“A magnificent club who seem to have done everything in the right order and have produced a club that they can be rightly proud.
“I really enjoyed my visit to Scarborough RUFC and I was delighted with all that they had done for the game of rugby.
“A big well done to all concerned and I do plan to go back for a game in the future.”
SRUFC Chief Executive Graeme Young was delighted with the report.
He said: “Keith was blown away by the standard of both our pitches and our facilities.
“He was quick to sing our praises to the powers that be at the RFU, which is fantastic for the club.
“He’s spoken to Rob Andrew about the site and hopefully some good will come of it.”
