Former Scarborough RUFC youngster and Scalby School pupil Zoe Aldcroft made her mark on the international stage in the USA on Tuesday.
Debutant Aldcroft came off the bench and crashed over in the 80th minute to secure England a 17-13 win against France in Utah, USA.
Following their 52-17 defeat to Canada on Friday, England trailed 13-10 as the clock ticked past 80 minutes, before substitute Aldcroft reacted quickest at the breakdown on the French line and burrowed her way over for a dramatic win.
A delighted Aldcroft said: “I can’t really believe it to be honest, the experience was pretty unforgettable and scoring the winning try was the cherry on the cake.”
Scarborough RUFC chief executive Graeme Young was quick to express his delight for Aldcroft.
“We’re over the moon for Zoe, she’s worked tremendously hard to make it to where she’s at now,” said Young.
“The club are delighted for Zoe, she’s a credit to both the club and the town.”
