Strongmen battle for honours in Moorland Games

Strongmen from across the country will converge on Seamer early next month to take part in the Moorland Games.

A total of 40 competitors will battle their way through a number of gruelling events at Arosa Campsite on August 8 from 11am.

Among those will be locals Rob Russell, Carl Jones, Phil Matthews and Cameron Goodsir, who will all be challenging for honours.

They will come up against tasks like the tree throw, hammer toss, quarry carry, one-on-one tug of war and stone throw.

As well as that there will be a sausage roll eating contest, arm wrestling, a play park, barbecue, beer tent and kids games.

Organiser Chris Bland said: “Strongman is getting more and more popular, we had a great event last year and we are hoping for another one this time.

“There are plenty of different events to watch and there is plenty for all the family.”

Entry on the day will be £5 for adults, while children get in free.
