Swimming star Amy earns medal double at North Eastern finals

The talented Corcoran, 13, building on her success from the Long Course NERs in June, showcased her talent in the 200 metre breaststroke with a superb personal best swim, earning the gold medal and the title of North East Short Course champion.

Her time was also fast enough to earn her an entry into the new ASA Winter National event as a junior swimmer, an outstanding achievement.

Corcoran then went on to claim a bronze medal in the 200m IM event with another strong swim and finished with four more top 10 places in her other events.

Scarborough Swimming Club continued their success in the age group events with Owen Robson, 13, dominating his heat in the 1500m freestyle, taking it right down to the last 25 metres with a powerful finish, to earn himself a good personal best swim and a silver medal at his first NER event.

Robson then went on to swim three further events across the weekend, continuing to earn personal best times and top 10 placings.

The six other age group competitors swam determinedly with competitive top 10 finishes being earned from Joe Kelly, 12, Adam Dawson, 13 and Phoebe Dawson, 13.

Good personal best times were achieved from all, including Nathan Mundey, 13, Emily Grayson,14, Atlanta Dowkes, 13, and Ben Botham, 14, a testament to the quality of training being received,

In the senior section of the championships, Jace Cappleman, showed her skills as a distance swimmer, earning a fourth place in her 800m freestyle and making the finals of her 400m freestyle, only narrowly missing the Women’s Winter National qualification in this event.

Emma Keith 15, also swam well in her 50m and 100m butterfly events with personal best swims, at her first NER competition.
