Jack Lawrence, 14, has been working hard on his game with coach Ashley Hodgson, including travelling to Helmsley and Pickering four times a week for games and practice and his efforts have now been rewarded.

Lawrence flew to St Louis, USA, when he was seven years old for a life-changing spinal chord operation.

Following his operation, Lawrence took up table tennis and has been improving ever since.

Following more surgery on his feet last year, Lawrence has gone from strength to strength, leading to his call up to the GB Para programme.

The programme is predominantly electronically based, and Lawrence will be required to keep a training diary, compete in a number of different events and train for at least six hours a week.
