Tour race is a dream come true for Louise

Scarborough Paragon Cycling Club’s Louise Scupham will be racing against some of her heroines in Saturday’s Tour de Yorkshire women’s race.

Seventeen-year-old Scupham, from Snainton, will be taking on Olympian and Paralympian riders including Dame Sarah Storey and Joanna Rowsell, and Commonwealth Games heroine Katie Archibald.

The Scarborough Sixth Form College student said: “I was delighted to make it into the field, it is a dream come true to be riding alongside the likes of Dame Sarah Storey.

“This is the longest race I’ve taken part in. It is held over four laps of a 20km circuit around York, starting at The Knavesmire.

“I am really looking forward to watching the first day’s action at Dalby Forest with my mum and dad.

“We are then planning to bike down to Scarborough to catch the finish.”
