The course was hilly and tight in places and conditions took a severe turn for the worse shortly after the start.

Heavy snow forced over half the field to withdraw including the two Scarborough riders. Only 15 riders completed the hour-long race.

Filey School pupil Cavan Walker had a busy week of racing, beginning with round four of the York Spring Series.

Walker attacked from the gun, riding solo for the whole race to take victory by 30 seconds from the remainder of the pack.

Walker followed this by heading to Loughbrough University for the East Midland Championships.

On a technical criterium course around the university campus Walker secured seventh place to continue his rise up the national rankings.

The following day Walker rode in the North East Closed Circuit Championships, held on the closed roads of Middlesbrough that had been used for the Tour De Yorkshire.

Walker joined an early break of riders that looked like they would stay away for the entire race. Unfortunately as rain started to fall on the slippery pedestrianised surface riders began to crash with alarming regularity, the race was temporality halted until the heavy rain had subsided.

When the race restarted the pack were a little more tentative, but this gave Walker the opportunity to control the race as he came home second in a tight sprint finish with Chevin Cycles' Will Turner.

Bob Hewitt (YHT SRC) headed to Dishforth for the final round of the Prologue Spring Series in the hope of continuing his fine run of podiums.

Unfortunately against a strong field Hewitt just missed out on the podium but secured a top 10 finish.
