Walker races to Yorkshire victory

Richardson’s Cycling Club’s Cavan Walker, from Hunmanby, has won the overall series in the Yorkshire Closed Circuit Youth League.

To win the White Rose trophy Walker had to ride the eight-race series held at York Sports Village.

In the eighth massed start road race he just needed to finish within one place of his nearest rival to win the overall series, he achieved this in convincing style.

Several of the top youth riders were competing in the race, including the under-14s National Closed Circuit champion Jack Ford, the under-14s National cyclo cross champion Euan Cameron and another three of the riders ranked top 10 in the country.

Walker rode a brilliant race to finish second to Jim Brown, of Holmfirth CC, and so achieve victory in the series.
