England were in full control of the contest at Esher RUFC at half-time as they led their French counterparts 20-3.

The visitors staged a superb in the second half and it took a last-gasp try to steal a draw.

Saturday was the first of two games against France this month, with the second away at Chartres RFC on Saturday March 19.
