“I’ve known Ken ever since I came over which was 14/15 years ago and he’s always been a friendly face around the club.

“Even when we went through any bad turns or spells he didn’t really have anything bad to say and always believed that things would get better.

“We’ve also lost Barry (Beanland) and Ian (Evans) and they’ve all left legacies at the club and we want to bring their families up to the club and show them how much they all meant to us.”

Speaking over Zoom, Jones is still hopeful that his side will get some form of competitive rugby this season despite the ongoing pandemic.

He added: “I really hope that they open it up to us as late as possible and that we can play late April or May to get five or six games in.

“It’ll bring a bit of meaning to all the hard work that we have done over the last year and make it more prominent for going into next season.

“We would look to iron out any issues, if we get some friendlies, so that when September comes everything will be where we need it to be and prepare for the season.

“It’s going to be a year and beyond since we last played rugby and I’m worried we’ll lose players from the game and see them move onto other sports.”
