Scarborough rock expert Charles White, known to millions as TV and radio personality Dr Rock, is to give the latest in a series of lunchtime talks at Scarborough Art Gallery.

Charles will be in conversation with historian and fellow music enthusiast Roger Osborne at the Gallery on Friday 3 May, looking at the personalities featured in the latest exhibition Halfway to Paradise, the rock photography of Harry Hammond. The talk starts at 12.30pm.

Dr Rock wrote the official biographies of Little Richard (The Life and Times of Little Richard: The Quasar of Rock) and Jerry Lee Lewis (Killer! The Baddest Rock Memoir Ever). Photographs of both stars appear in the exhibition.

Also Scarborough-based, Roger Osborne is best known for his books on history and geography, including The Floating Egg. Perhaps less well known is his interest in music – he compiled Forty Years of NME Charts and co-authored The Elvis Atlas: A Journey Through Elvis Presley’s America.

The exhibition runs until Sunday June 16.
