Scarborough Elvis impersonator Tony Skingle's impromptu garden performance is a hit online

An impromptu garden performance by an Elvis Scarborough impersonator is proving a hit around the world.

Tony Skingle says he has had messages from people in Australia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, India and Thailand about the show he decided to do outside his home on Stepney Drive on Saturday.

“I can’t believe the response I’ve had from it,” he said.

Tony, 57, is well known in Scarborough for his Elvis tribute shows which include performances every New Year’s Eve at Scarborough Spa.

He said he has been missing performing and decided to put on the show on his front law for his neighbours’ entertainment.

Dressed in a white catsuit and with a traditional Elvis quiff, he performed a string of The King’s classics.

People came out of their homes and were cheering and clapping,” he said.

“Cars were stopping in the street. Joggers and people walking their dogs stopped to watch.

“It was great fun.

“It’s made people laugh and that’s what it was all about. It’s cheered people up.”

He streamed the 18-minute performance live on Facebook and the video has since been viewed over 8,000 times.
