The Catholic school’s music teacher, Oliver Barron, said: “At the start of lockdown I was thinking what can I do?

“I came up with the idea of a jazz lockdown orchestra and that turned out quite nicely.”

The experiment was so successful that Mr Barron decided to create another video, this time featuring the St Augustine’s Lockdown Choir. He said: “The first choir video has gone all round the world and received over 15,000 views.

“Our next project is to raise money for the Young Minds charity which helps young people with mental health problems”

The 50-strong choir is made up of pupils, ex-pupils, parents and staff. A statement for the group read: “We are singing together to support everyone who has been directly affected by this pandemic.

“Being away from friends, family or even coping with the loss of a loved one over the last few months, they now need as much support as we can give them.”

“It is important that everyone is recognised and remembered in such difficult times, so we have decided to put our vocals to good use and raise money for YoungMinds - a charity leading the fight for a future where all young minds are supported and empowered, whatever the challenges.”
