All set for Pickering’s big weekend

ONE of the biggest country fairs in the country will be at Pickering Showground this weekend.

Last year’s event attracted more than 7,000 visitors and organisers are promising an “unrivalled line-up of attractions” this year.

Event organiser Richard Ashworth said: “This is the eighth year we have held Pickering Game and Country Fair and it has grown into one of the region’s biggest and most popular events.

“Our team has worked relentlessly to ensure this year’s fair remains a crowd pleaser while also bringing in tens of thousands of pounds to the local economy.”

Organisers are hoping that there will be something for everyone at the event – from the serious game enthusiast to families looking for a great day out.

Action-packed events will take place in the arena between 10am and 5pm each day and will include the K92000 dog display team with highly trained canines demonstrating their amazing skills of obedience and agility.

There will also be a fun dog show starting at 9am each day as well as races for pets, including ferrets.

Displays will also include birds of prey, the UK Tractor Show, fly-fishing, clay shooting, archery, quad bikes and various other competitions.

There will also be a traditional vintage fairground, trade stands, refreshments, fine food and craft marquees.
