DANCERS showed great aplomb in staging a charity performance to help boost the balance of a local organisation.
With the help of dance teacher Susan Richards, the Yorkshire Coast School of Ballet put on a celebratory show raising £756.50 for the YMCA in St Thomas Street, where the school is based.
YMCA executive director Steve Marsh said the organisation was grateful for the donation which will be put back into essential costs needed to run the centre.
He said: “Sue Richards has been a long-standing supporter of YMCA; she had the Yorkshire Coast School of Ballet and also does private ballet lessons.
“They put on a show recently called Tribute and donated all the proceeds.
“It was dedicated to Helen Held who took over from Sue after she retired.
“Helen has been off sick for a while, but she’s fighting her way back to fitness, so it was to celebrate her getting better.
“The funds will be used for paying for ongoing costs of the building.
“It’s a real boom for us to be able to use it for general running costs, so we can carry on doing what we do.”
