Former Poet Laureate to talk at Scarborough hotel

SCARBOROUGH literary fans are set for a real page turner thanks to a visit from an esteemed former Poet Laureate.

Sir Andrew Motion will be reading from his works at The Royal Hotel on Tuesday, 20 March.

Sir Andrew will be giving fans the chance to listen to readings from his new book, Silver – Return to Treasure Island, which is a sequel to Robert Louis Stevenson’s original during the event.

He will also be reading his latest book of poems, The Cinder Path, as well as his autobiography In The Blood – A Memoir of My Childhood.

Sir Andrew will be available to answer questions from fans about the role of a Poet Laureate.

He will also officially open the Fears, Foes and Faeries exhibition at Scarborough Art Gallery on the same evening, which focuses on a collection of charms and amulets from 1913 to 1945.

The exhibition runs until Sunday, September 30.
