DAVID and Catherine Pinkett have moved back to Scarborough from Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire to open a stunning new contemporary fine art gallery in Huntriss Row.
Catherine, who originates from Scarborough, trained as a nurse and David has a background in civil engineering and photography.
But it is their passion for art which has led to this new venture.
They’ve even taken inspiration from their surname to call the business after the Latin word Pinx which means he or she painted it.
Scarborough already has some fantastic galleries which showcase local painters, and now the new Pinx Gallery offers people the chance to purchase fine art from the UK’s leading contemporary artists.
Catherine said: “We are very excited to offer a wide range of original and special limited edition pieces from national and internationally acclaimed artists, for the people of the area to enjoy.
“Our aim is to create an enjoyable experience from first entering our gallery, then choosing a piece of art, through to hanging it in its new home.”
The gallery first opened in March and has already showcased the new studio collection from Rolf Harris, with very few pieces remaining.
For a short period only, two of the stunning pieces from the BBC2 television programme Rolf’s Paints his Dream have been released to the gallery for discerning collectors to purchase.
The gallery will be regularly featuring different artists and exhibiting work which is regularly shown on the London art scene, giving our region a chance to buy exciting work at affordable prices.
The gallery is open Monday and Wednesday through to Saturday from 10am-5pm and Sunday from 11am-3pm.
