Curtain up on YMCA show

Musicals Annie, Mamma Mia and Sister Act have one thing in common – songs from these shows feature in the latest production at the YMCA.

Lights, Camera, Action is presented by YMCA Productions at the theatre in St Thomas Street, Scarborough

It is a variety show based on films and stage musicals.

“The show features a number of young people who are new to the YMCA stage, as well as some familiar faces,” said executive director Steve Marsh.

It runs from Wednesday April 3 to Saturday April 6, daily at 7.30pm.

Later this month YMCA Spotlight will take audiences on a journey through the best of Disney’s catalogue of songs and characters.

A cast o f more than 60 ranges from first timers to some familiar faces of all ages.

“The cast embody all the best that the YMCA stands for – team work, support, tenacity, humour, kindness, potential and a commitment to developing talent and sharing skills,” said Steve.

Disney Mania is on Friday April 19 at 7.30pm and Saturday April 20 at 2pm.

YMCA Productions’ summer show runs every Monday to Thurday from July 22 to August 29. Its pantomime Sleeping Beauty opening on Boxing Day and running until January 4.
