NORTH Yorkshire-born chef James Martin is opening his first restaurant in the UK for more than 10 years in Leeds.
It will be based at the Alea Casino and called The Leeds Kitchen.
It is scheduled to open at the beginning of next month.
James, who was brought up near Castle Howard and went to what is now Yorkshire Coast College, will transform the current restaurant on the ground floor.
“As I’m a born and bred Yorkshire man, I have been searching for the right location for some time and this has everything I am looking for,” said James who intends to use locally sourced ingredients.
“I can’t wait to open shortly, and deliver – along with my team - some of the best of British cooking Leeds has experienced.”

James, who has appeared on Ready, Steady Cook, now hosts Saturday Kitchen and is pulling in a record number of viewers. More than 3.4 million people watch the cookery and chat show. His first taste of culinary work was with his dad at Castle Howard.
