The lunchtime series of concerts at Scarborough Library resumes with Frank Hames at the piano on Thursday October 3.
The series’ musical director will be playing a mix of popular piano pieces including Chopin.
The new season of concerts includes more of the late Vincent Billington’s life stories of the great composers including Dvorak and Mozart.
Vincent, who played with Max Jaffa and the Spa Orchestra, started the concert series and it is continued by his widow Maria with the support of musicians including Frank, organist Howard Beaumonth and violinist Phillip Mindenhall.
The Dvorak concert is on October 10 and Mozart session on November 7.
“We will also be celebrating the bi-centenial of the great operatic composer Verdi,” said Maria.
This concert will feature popular tenor Martin Neil Dunn and is on October 17.
Soprano Ione Cumming (soprano) makes a welcome return for two concerts after a maternity break. Ione is at the library on November 14 and Dece mber 5.
Soprano Margaret Preece will make her first visit to the library on November 21.
Others taking part include broadcaster Geoff Druett and pianist Timothy Raymond.
The concerts are at the Concert Room, Scarborough Library, Vernon Road, and start at 12.30pm.
Admission is by collection on the door.
