The Scarborough Spa Orchestra’s summer season – it’s 101st – is coming to a close with its final gala concert on Thursday September 19.
The morning concerts also continue Monday to Thursday until September 19 when the programme will be made up entirely of audience requests.
Evening concerts throughout the final week are all specially devised.
For the first time in many years the orchestra members have been invited to suggest their own favourite pieces for Monday September 16.
On Tuesday September 17 the audience members get their own back. For the last few weeks they have been voting for their own five favourite pieces of music played by the orchestra.
On the evening of Wednesday September 18 each member of the orchestra plays their own choice of solo.
For Thursday’s Grand Finale this year Musical Director Paul Laidlaw has decided to compile a programme of 15 pieces, each representing one of the gala concerts performed since June.
Before all of that, the 0rchestra is joined on Thursday September 12 by musicians from the Scarborough Area Youth Symphony Orchestra for a programme of light classical and movie themes.
Morning concerts are in the Sun Court at 11am and evening concerts are held in the Grand Hall at 7.30pm.
