Graham Community Choir will be singing perhaps the most famous piece from the classical choral repertoire at it next concert.
The ensemble – formerly known as the Can’t Sing Choir – has programmed Handel’s the Hallelujah Chorus from his Messiah for the event later this year.
The choir will also be performing Sting’s Fields of Gold and Charlotte Church’s vocal version of Faure’s Pavan entitled Dream a Dream.
Conductor Bill Scott said, “I am so pleased with the progress of the choir and the performance of this Handel classic will represent a considerable achievement by the choir.
“We are a genuine community choir with an open doors audition policy and always perform for fun and the love of music.
“I hope we convey these qualities to our audiences.”
The Sandside Orchestra will be joining the choir for the Band of Brothers and Sisters 3 concert at Graham School, Scarborough, on March 15 at 7pm.
Tickets cost £5 – and includes a glass of wine – and are available from the school,on the door, or from members of the choir. The school can be contacted on 01723 366451.
Anyone interested in joining the choir is invited to come along to Graham School on a rehearsal evening.
The choir rehearses most Wednesdays at Graham School from 7pm.
