Hutch brings his Sultans to club

The Sultans of Thwing – led by ex-Bowie guitarist John ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson play for Scarborough Jazz at The Cask on Wednesday January 22nd.

Their repertoire is an attractive mixture of gipsy jazz tunes, vintage blues and original songs, with some jazz standards.

Their leader Hutch on acoustic lead guitar and vocals who travelled world-wide as guitarist with David Bowie before returning to settle in Yorkshire.

Hutch said: “We are delighted to be invited to play at Scarborough’s top jazz venue.”

Completing the quartet are Jon Horton, rhythm guitar and resonator slide, Christopher Lea, acoustic bass, plus guest soloist Paul De Villenueva on jazz violin.

The Sultans will provide an infusion of joy and get your feet tapping throughout a very happy gig.

Admission is £5 and the music begins at 8.45pm

The dates for the is year’s Scarborough Jazz Festival have been announced.

The event will be, again, be based at the Spa from Friday September 26 to Sunday September 28.
