Scarborough Jazz Festival has announced an addition to the already brimming line up.
The recently formed Issie Barratt’s Interchange, an all-female decte, have taken the last remaining slot for the festival, which will take place at Scarborough Spa from Friday September 22 to Sunday September 24.
Composer, artistic director and baritone saxophonist Issie Barratt has performed at a majority of leading concert halls, jazz clubs and festivals.
The ensemble is composed of vocals from Brigitte Beraha, trumpet and electronics by Yazz Ahmed, alto sax and clarinet from Helena Kay, tenor/flute/violin from Tori Freestone, trombone from Carol Jarvis, cello from Shirley Smart, piano from Nikki Iles, percussion from Corrina Silvester, bass from Charlie Pyne and baritone sax from Issie Barratt herself.
Scarborough Jazz Festival Director Mike Gordon said “I had one gap in the programme and I was waiting for something extra special. I think we’ve got it.”
