New acts are lined up to support JLS

Organisers of this month’s Open Air Theatre JLS concert have lined up three acts to support the global boyband in Scarborough.

I Am Tich, Clement Marfo and The Frontline and NVS will all be appearing at the North Bay venue on Saturday, August 25.

Janet Deacon, area director with Welcome to Yorkshire which is supporting this summer’s programme at the Open Air Theatre, said: “These are high calibre musicians whose reputations and careers are most definitely on the up – it’s great that they’ve been added to the JLS bill.

“There are still a handful of tickets on sale locally, but we’re pretty confident the theatre will be close to being full if not a complete sellout on August 25.”

I Am Tich is a 19-year-old future pop sensation from the UK who has already toured with Paolo Nutini, Pixie Lott and Justin Bieber.

With more than one million Youtube hits, she has played a host of UK festivals including Glastonbury, T in the Park, Oxegen and V Festival while preparing for her very own headline tour.

Clement Marfo and The Frontline are a seven-piece diverse collective from South London and are led by the charismatic Clement.

With a mixture of hip-hop, grime, rock and pop, they have already supported Florence and The Machine, Plan B and Example on tour.

NVS are a four-piece group which formed in 2010 and are managed by the same production company as Justin Timberlake, NSYNC and Britney Spears.

Boyband JLS – aka Aston Merrygold, Oritsé Williams, Jonathan Benjamin JB Gill and Marvin Humes – were runners-up of the fifth series of The X Factor in 2008 when they were runners up to Alexandra Burke.

They have been described as “the biggest boy band for a generation” and topped the charts with their debut album – 2009’s JLS.

JLS have enjoyed further chart success, with two more successful albums and five number one singles.
