Proms and popfest at Castle Howard

Rousing anthems and chart-toppers will ring out from the grounds of Castle Howard when two concerts are staged there this month.

The Great British Summer Proms are on Saturday August 17 and Noughties Popfest on Sunday August 18.

Appearances by the Military Wags Choir and the male vocal harmony group The Overtones are part of the prms night.

The English National Orchestra will be conducted by Jae Alexander with guest sopranoJanet Mooney performing popular arias and Proms Classics.

The day after bands from ITV2’s Big Reunion will be appearing.

Blue, 5ive, Atomic Kitten, 911, B’Witched, Honeyz and S Club Re-union will feature in the popfest.

The line up will include non-stop smash hits from the 90s and 2000s.

Rob McIntosh of MA Concerts said: “This is one amazing line up and promises to be the biggest pop show to be held at Castle Howard ever.

“Boy band 5ive sold more than 20 million records, with smash hits including Slam Dunk, When The Lights Go Out. With Blue expect to hear One Love, If You Come Back, All Rise and U Make Me Wanna.Atomic Kitten - Liz, Natasha and Kerry - will perform Whole Again and Eternal.

Gates open at 5pm to allow picnics etc.
